Preparing for Space Saloon's "Fieldworks"
Wednesday 5/22/2019 We left Kingman, Arizona and traveled 237 miles to Desert Hot Springs, California. The majority of the drive was on a lonely two-lane highway through the desert with mountains in the background. We are staying at the Palm Springs/Joshua Tree KOA for three nights. This is about the closest campground to Morongo Valley where Danny is holding his workshop and we are going to help him get some things ready.
Thursday 5/23/2019 Danny's workshop in Morongo Valley is about 28 miles from our campground. This morning we drove to where he and his girlfriend, Rebecca are staying to help them start getting the place ready. Our first stop was a storage container that he purchased last year to store all his tools and equipment from last year's workshop. We loaded up the truck with all the items he needed and brought them back to the site of this year's workshop. The work site is in a different location but not too far from last year's site. Next, we headed to last year's site and picked up more equipment that he would be needing. After that, we did some preliminary site measurements and put some stakes with string in the ground to mark the outline of their project. He was waiting on a large shipment of lumber and cement mix from a local lumber store and after they were done unloading we headed to Home Depot and Harbor Freight to buy more construction supplies.
Friday 5/24/2019 Danny reserved a two-man auger at Yucca Rental so when we left the trailer this morning we went directly there and picked it up and delivered it to the workshop site. He was also waiting on a delivery of construction supplies so while we were waiting, the four of us went back up to the work site and planted red flags and leveled the lines we installed yesterday. After the delivery truck left, we drove to a few stores and checked out some supplies he might need. And I happily agreed to enjoy my favorite hamburger joint (Steak n' Shake) with them. Later Danny drove into Palm Springs to have dinner and visit an art show with the students while Rebecca got some work done around the work site. We drove back to our trailer and did some laundry and cleaned up the trailer a bit. Tomorrow we are moving the trailer to the house in front of their work site.
Saturday 5/25/2019 Today we packed up the trailer and moved from the KOA in Desert Hot Springs to Danny's Workshop in Morongo Valley, California.
